Certification Programs
Therapist Certification
We offer certification programs in which clinicians receive individualized supervision on a course of treatment using the Unified Protocol or Compass. Weekly consultation sessions are conducted via video-conferencing (e.g., Zoom) with Dr. Sauer-Zavala. Consultation can be provided for individual therapists or for small groups of clinicians. Following successful completion of this program, therapists will be considered competent to provide the UP or Compass in their personal clinical practice. They will be listed on this site as certified!
Trainer Certification
We also offer stringent training for the Unified Protocol or Compass, qualifying successful completers to train others. This program requires the audio-recording of a course of treatment with the UP or Compass (typically 16-18 sessions) that will be reviewed for adherence and competence in protocol delivery by Dr. Sauer-Zavala on a weekly basis throughout the course of treatment. Additionally, after reviewing session tapes, she will provide consultation between sessions to offer feedback on past sessions and guidance on upcoming sessions. Following successful completion of this program, therapists will be able to train others within their institutions to use the UP or Compass in their clinical practice. This program is ideal for clinical supervisors and research groups wishing to establish therapist fidelity when using the UP or Compass in research trials.
